Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi visiting Nepal

Kathmandu, Mar 5 (IBNS):  Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is currently on a two-day visit to Nepal.

Speaking on the trip,  Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said in a statement: " Prime Minister will convey felicitations to the Nepalese leadership on the successful conclusion of its democratic process, resulting in the formation of a new government. Prime Minister will congratulate the newly elected Prime Minister of Nepal His Excellency Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli. During his visit, the Prime Minister will also call on the President of Nepal Her Excellency Bidya Devi Bhandari."

The statement further said: " Prime Minister's visit will provide an opportunity to further expand and strengthen bilateral relations across all areas of mutual interest including trade, education, tourism, defence and people to people contacts. Ways of invigorating SAARC as an important regional organization will also be discussed."

The Ambassador of Nepal Sewa Lamsal Adhikari called on the Prime Minister on 2 March 2018 and conveyed the message of welcome from the Nepalese leadership to the Prime Minister.

She also discussed how to further strengthen bilateral relations.  

The Ministry further said: " Nepal is an important regional country and a close friend. Our ties with Nepal are characterized by cordiality, mutual respect and commonality of interests. Our support to each other at bilateral and multilateral fora has remained indispensible for both the sides."
