Rahim Yar Khan:  Local journalists  and the Pakistan Saraiki Party (PSP) members recently set up a hunger strike camp outside the Bhong police station to demonstrate against alleged police torture against mediapersons.

Journalist Asghar Indhar said he uncovered the corruption of some officials in his news reports, reports Dawn News.

According to Indhar, the officials registered a false FIR against him. Police arrested Indhar and tortured him due to which his eyesight was affected and police also plucked his nails, the newspaper reported.

When journalists from all over the district started protesting against the arrest of Indhar and demanded his medical examination, the police conducted the medical examination at Shaikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) in which the torture was proved, reports Dawn News.

District Police Officer Asad Sarfraz  has said Indhar will be released soon.

Asad said an FIR will be lodged against an ASI.
