A device, which was containing 1,510 grams of explosives, was found abandoned near the Adiala jail in Pakistan's  Gorakhpur town on Tuesday.

The explosive device was packed in a bag along with four pieces of electric lead, a time fuse, safety fuse as well as a circuit card, reported Dawn News.

The bag was reportedly first found by scavengers. They left it near a grocery shop and escaped.

The police later reached the venue after receiving a call from the police.

A bomb disposal squad was dispatched along with police to the spot who then cordoned off the area, reports Dawn News.

Besides, bomb disposal experts, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch officials later reached the venue.

The CTD has launched a case against unidentified persons.

An investigation is underway.
