The district administration of Dera Ghazi Khan in Pakistan has imposed new security measures under which all traffic will be prohibited from travelling to the Balochistan region at night.

According to reports, all public and private vehicles halted at border checkpoints from 5pm till next morning.

The cars will be allowed to cross the Balochistan border in daylight only.

The directive by Deputy Commissioner and Chairman Regional Transport Authority Muhammad Usman Khalid’s is applicable to the major border crossings at Sakhi Sarwar and Bawata.

“The protection of citizens’ lives and property is the top priority, and security measures are being made more effective and comprehensive,” he said.

The measure was announced just days after nine bus passengers from Pakistan's Punjab region were killed by gunmen in Balochistan.

Vehicles will travel under strict security and protected convoys.
