Islamabad: A Pakistani court on Friday sentenced Lashkar-e-Taiba top commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi for 15 years of imprisonment.

He is also a key conspirator of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

Lakhvi, who is the operations commander of the terror outfit, was designated as a global terrorist by the United Nations under the UN Security Council Resolution in 2008 after the dastardly Mumbai attacks, reports Times Now.

He has been sentenced by the court just days after he was arrested.

US reacts:

US State Department tweeted: "We are encouraged by the recent conviction of Zaki ur Rehman Lakhvi. However, his crimes go far beyond financing terrorism. Pakistan should further hold him accountable for his involvement in terrorist attacks, including the Mumbai attacks."
