A bomb exploded near the residence of Balochistan’s Minister for Irrigation, Mir Sadiq Umrani, in Dera Murad Jamali, Pakistan, on Saturday, according to media reports.

The explosion partially damaged the building, while a nearby WAPDA transformer was destroyed in the powerful blast.

Police officials told Dawn News that unidentified attackers had planted the bomb behind Umrani’s residence near the transformer.

“The bomb exploded and damaged some parts of the residence,” a police officer told Dawn, adding that the transformer was also severely affected by the blast, which shook the surrounding area.

According to reports, the minister was not at home at the time of the explosion, and no casualties have been reported so far.

Police officials said CCTV footage showed two individuals planting the bomb before fleeing the scene moments before the explosion.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
