Islamabad, Nov 3 (IBNS) In a crucial move, the Pakistan government has banned media coverage of militant groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jamaatud Dawa (JuD), media reports said on Tuesday.

The notification regarding the coverage has been issued by The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) under United Nations restrictions.

It also banned the coverage of Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation (FIF).

“Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior, under National Action Plan (NAP), have banned all kind of coverage of banned JuD, LeT and FIF under UN resolution 1267,” read the circular issued by PEMRA as quoted by Dawn News.

The notification has called the JuD and the FIF as incarnations of the banned LeT, reports said.

“All satellite television channels/FM licensees are therefore strictly directed not to give any kind of coverage to any proscribed organisation including JuD, FIF and LeT. Moreover, any advertisement or fund collection by proscribed organisations in electronic media shall also constitute a breach of these obligations,” the notification said as quoted by Dawn News.

2008 Mumbai attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed is the mastermind of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD).
