Islamabad/UNI: At least 11 people were killed when a boat capsized in a lake in Pakistan's Sindh province, officials said.

According to media reports, 13 members of a family rented a boat in the Keenjhar lake in Thatta district, but it lost balance and overturned when it reached deep water on Monday evening, reported Xinhua.

"The owner of the boat did not have life jackets to give to the victims, who fell helplessly into deep water," the report said.

Rescuers responded to the emergency call but when they arrived at the site, it was already too late.

According to reports, lifeguards was not available in the ward, which attracts thousands of visitors daily, especially from the neighboring port city of Karachi.
