Oakland warehouse fire toll likely to increase as search for victims continue into Monday

Oakland (Califronia), Dec 5 (IBNS): Police and rescuers have recovered 33 bodies so far from the Oakland (California) warehouse that was engulfed by fire on Friday night live programme, according to media reports.

More than half the warehouse is still to be searched, said rescuers on the spot.

Names of six of the eight victims identified by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau were released on Sunday evening and their families notified.

The programme, said to a tour for the musicians associated with the Los Angeles-based label 100% Silk, was being promoted for nearly two months even though the venue was declared shortly before the show, media reported.

According to the Los Angeles Times, about 70 musicians and fans gathered late Fridayfor a night of music and dancing at the Ghost Ship, the eccentric piano factory-turned-art space.

The City of Oakland said that the District Attorney's Office has criminal investigation teams actively looking at the fire with the other law enforcement agencies involved in investigating the fire, according to media reports.
