Nepal to resume more flights to ease travel for migrant workers

Authorities in Nepal have decided to resume flights to six more countries that have significant Nepali migrant workers, including Japan and Malaysia, reported The Himalayan Times.

The decision was taken on Saturday during a meeting of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee chaired by Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, confirmed Taranath Adhikari, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Flights to Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Japan, and Malaysia will start in the coming days, easing travel for job seekers. However, the flights will be resumed in a way so that not more than 2000 could arrive in Nepal from a country in a week’s time.

It is not yet clear if these countries would allow passengers from Nepal. Many of them have already initiated plans to grant visas based on vaccination.
