Nepal road accident leaves 11 dead

Kathmandu: At least 11 people lost their lives as the bus in which they were traveling  on veered off the road in Indrawati Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok district of Nepal on Friday, media reports said on Saturday.

The incident left 50 others hurt.

The Helambu Yatayat bus (Ba 2 Kha 2715) en route to Kathmandu from Sipatar plunged around 60 metres below the road at around 10:00 am at Tikhukomod, reported The Himalayan Times.

According to Sindhupalchok Police, five people died on the spot, one on the way for treatment, and five more at a health facility during the course of treatment. Rough road and overload have been presumed to be the causes of the accident, added police, reported the newspaper.

The bus was returning to the country's capital city Katmandu.

The injured people were rushed to hospital for treatment.

Police are trying to identify the people.
