Amid rising cases of coronavirus, authorities in Nepal have started the construction of an isolation facility with a 2,000-bed capacity in Geta Medical College of Kailali district, reported The Himalayan Times.

The isolation facility will be handled by the District Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre (DCCMC). Khagendra Prasad Rijal, Chief District Officer of Kailali, said a team of Nepali Army has also been deployed to clear the location and construct physical infrastructure for the facility, informed.

About 500 beds will be put in place in the first stage, he informed, the rest will be constructed in other phases. The augmented capacity would help authorities to better manage the increased caseload. Hospitals are already overwhelmed.

Federal Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta ask concerned agencies to immediately provide electricity, drinking water, health equipment and take care of their management.
