Namaste: French President Emmanuel Macron welcomes Anegela Merkel in Indian style, video goes viral

Paris: A video shared by French President  Emmanuel Macron on Twitter is winning hearts as the leader could be seen welcoming German Chancellor Angela Merkel at his Mediterranean holiday retreat, the Fort of Bregancon, in southern France, by folding his hands in traditional Indian 'Namaste' style.

Merkel also greeted him in a similar manner.

The 'Namaste' style is becoming a popular gesture among world leaders now when the world is combating COVID-19 pandemic.

Several Twitter users appreciated the President's way of greeting Merkel.

One Naveen Kumar Singh tweeted: "That's Indian way of greeting people - Namaste !"

A Twitter user Srijan Das posted: "Namaste(नमस्ते) used as form of greeting by President of France and Chancellor of Germany."
