| @indiablooms | Jul 05, 2024, at 03:00 pm

In 2020, right after Britain's Labour Party suffered a major loss in the general polls, the outfit decided to hand over the political party's leadership to Keir Starmer to alter the fate in 2024.

Starmer ensured he performed his task perfectly and now his Labour Party is dominating the UK general polls as counting votes is currently underway.

Keir Starmer is now set to become the next PM of Britain, ending the 14-year rule of key Conservative.

His win also means PM Rishi Sunak's exit from the top job.

Bracing for a landslide victory, Keir Starmer said he will change the country if Labour is voted to power.

"I’ve changed the Labour Party," he said.

"If you put your trust in me by voting Labour, I will change the country," he earlier posted on X.

Growing up in Oxted town, Keir Starmer was elected leader of the Labour Party in 2020.

A lawyer by profession, Keir Starmer had served on the Northern Ireland Policing Board for five years.

In 2008, Keir became Director of Public Prosecutions, putting him as the head of the Crown Prosecution Service and its thousands of employees, as per the Labour Party's website.

He received a knighthood in 2014 for his services to criminal justice.

In his political journey, he became a parliamentarian for the first time in 2015 at the age of 52.
