Kabul suicide attack: Death toll rises to 26

Kabul, Mar 21 (IBNS): At least 26 people have died in the suicide attack which rocked Kabul on Wednesday noon, reports said.

Additionally, at least 18 people have sustained injuries.

The blast happened after a suicide bomber detonated his explosive near a crowd celebrating New Year's in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul.

The incident took place close to Ali Abad Hospital and Kabul University on Wednesday at around noon.

According to police, the attacker used a car bomb.

The death toll was confirmed by the Afghan Interior Ministry, local Tolo News reported.

Security forces have cordoned off the area.
