Israel-Gaza crisis: IDF eliminates Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Qanou In northern Gaza

The Israel Defence Force on Friday confirmed that Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Qanou was killed during an airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip.

The deceased person was identified as Abd al-Latif Rajab Jumaa Qanou.

Speaking on the killing of the Hamas spokesperson, IDF posted on X: "ELIMINATED: Spokesperson of the Hamas Terrorist Organization "

The Israeli force further said: "Abd al-Latif Rajab Jumaa Qanou, served for years as one of Hamas' key spokesmen, spreading lies, inciting terrorist activities and systematically using media platforms for propaganda purposes, psychological terror and spreading false information."

The IDF said he spent years advancing the terrorist organization’s agenda.

The IDF said he had called for the destruction of Israel.

"The IDF and ISA will continue to operate to dismantle Hamas’ governmental and military capabilities," IDF wrote on X.

Recently, IDF also said  Salah Bardawil, head of Hamas's planning and development office, was killed in southern Gaza.

"Bardawil served as a senior terrorist in Hamas' political bureau, and as part of his role, directed the strategic and military planning of Hamas," the IDF had said in an earlier X post.

Hezbollah Leader Killed

The IDF also confirmed the killing of  Hezbollah's Radwan Force commander Ahmad Adnan Bajjiga in Southern Lebanon.

"Throughout the war and in recent months, Ahmed advanced and directed numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops," the IDF said in a statement.

The Israel- Hezbollah conflict began after Hamas attacked on October 7, 2023, triggering tension in the Middle East.

A ceasefire was reached between Israel and Hezbollah in November last year.

The ceasefire halted the hostilities that had occurred for more than a year.

However, the recent attacks have once again sparked concerns over the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah.

Under the ceasefire deal, Hezbollah had agreed to pull its forces north of the Litani River and even dismantle any remaining military infrastructure in south.

Israel was supposed to withdraw its forces across the United Nations-demarcated Blue Line.

According to media reports, it still holds five positions in south Lebanon.

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera: “We will not accept the continued [Israeli] occupation.

“There is no room for normalisation or surrender in Lebanon,” he said in a televised address.
