Mosul, Sept 2 (IBNS): Iraqi military intelligence forces on Sunday arrested two terrorists belonging to the Islamic State terror group at a security checkpoint in  Mosul city, media reports said on Monday.

The pair had fled Mosul city to Erbil province in Iraqi Kurdistan region following the crushing defeat of the Islamic State terrorist group in Iraq in 2017, Iraqi website Alghad Press quoted the Military Intelligence Directorate as saying in a press statement as reported by Iraqi News.

The two terrorists are wanted by the Iraqi judiciary for their involvement in several attacks against security forces in Mosul city, the statement read.

The security situation in Iraq improved in 2017 after security forces fully defeated the extremist IS militants across the country late in 2017.
