Indian-origin US Senator Kamala Harris drops out of US Presidential race, Trump says he will miss her

Washington/IBNS: Indian-origin US Senator Kamala Harris on Tuesday announced her decision to drop out of the US presidential race.

"To my supporters, it is with deep regret-but also with deep gratitude-that I am suspending my campaign today," Harris said in a statement.

"My campaign for president simply doesn’t have the financial resources we need to continue. I’m not a billionaire. I can’t fund my own campaign," she added.

The California senator said that despite ending her campaign, she would continue to fight for justice for all people, particularly those whose voices have not been heard.

Stating the reason for taking the decision, she said: "My campaign for president simply doesn’t have the financial resources we need to continue."

"I’m not a billionaire. I can’t fund my own campaign. And as the campaign has gone on, it’s become harder and harder to raise the money we need to compete," she said.

She had been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump and was once seen as a rising star within the party.

"And I will keep fighting every day for what this campaign has been about. Justice for The People. All the people," she said.

Meanwhile, reacting to her decision, US President Donald Trump tweeted: "Too bad. We will miss you Kamala!"

She was quick in her reply: "Don’t worry, Mr. President. I’ll see you at your trial."
