Hindu, Christian women in Pakistan vulnerable to sex trafficking to China: US official

| @indiablooms | Dec 10, 2020, at 05:56 pm

Washington: A top US official has claimed that Hindu and Christian women from poor and marginalized communities in Pakistan are vulnerable to traffickers who falsely promise them they will be married to wealthy Chinese men.

He said these women are often sold as prostitutes after they are married in China.

Top US diplomat for religious freedom Samuel Brownback tweeted, "Hindu and Christian women from poor and marginalized communities in Pakistan are vulnerable to traffickers falsely promising marriage to wealthy Chinese men. Once married in China, these women are often isolated, neglected, abused and, at times, sold as prostitutes."

The official's remarks once again highlighted the poor condition of minorities in the country.
