Gunmen kidnap two shell employees, kill two police officers in Southern Nigeria

Moscow, Apr 27 (Sputnik/UNI) Two employees of energy company Shell Nigeria were kidnapped and two police officers were killed by gunmen in the African country's southern Rivers state, local media have reported.

The Nation news outlet reported on Friday that the incident took place on Thursday as two senior staff members of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) were attacked on their way from the neighboring Bayelsa state, which they visited for a business trip.


An anonymous source in Shell confirmed to the outlet that the gunmen attacked the oil workers and the security officers, escorting them, at around 04:00 p.m. (15:00 GMT) on Thursday.
