Germany tightens restrictions for UK travellers, does not apply to German citizens

| @indiablooms | Dec 19, 2021, at 02:59 pm

Berlin/UNI: Germany on Saturday banned most travellers coming from Britain, in an effort to slow down the spread of the Omicron variant which has been surging in Britain, the BBC reported on Sunday.

However, this ban does not apply to German nationals and residents coming back from the UK.

However, even German citizens will have to have a negative test and will have to mandatorily quarantine for two weeks, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not. These measures take effect from Monday.

The Robert-Koch-Institute of Germany announced the new rules as it classified the UK as a virus variant area of concern, the highest COVID risk level.
