Hiland Park, Illinois/IBNS: The United States Police Tuesday said the attacker, who opened gunfire during the Fourth of July parade at Hiland Park in Illinois, had planned it for weeks and wore women's clothes in an attempt to cover up his facial tattoos.

The alleged shooter, Robert 'Bobby' Crimo, who is just 21, bought the gun legally.

According to reports, the victims of the attack appeared to have been targeted at random.

"We do believe Crimo pre-planned this attack for several weeks. He brought a high-powered rifle to this parade," police spokesman Chris Covelli told reporters.

"Crimo was dressed in women's clothing, and investigators do believe he did this to conceal his facial tattoos and his identity during his escape," said Covelli.

Six people were killed and more than two dozen were injured in the shooting, which according to reports was more than 70 rounds of gunfire.

He was arrested hours after the attack.
