Former ISI chief barred from leaving Pakistan after his joint book with ex-RAW chief

Islamabad, May 29 (IBNS): A joint venture by former Pakistani spy chief Asad Durrani with his Indian counterpart AS Dulat, a former RAW chief, has landed him in the soup, as he now finds himself on the country's Exit-Control List.

Durrani, the former boss of Inter-Services Intelligence, reportedly co-authored a book with Dulat, the ex-chief of Research and Analysis Wing, the Indian's premier spy network.

The book titled 'The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace' contains chapters about a host of major issues concerning India and Pakistan, including Kashmir, the Kargil operation, the US Navy SEALs operation in Abbottabad to kill Osama bin Laden, Indian national Kulbushan Jadhav's arrest by Pakistan, Mumbai terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed and noted Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani.

It has reportedly upset Islamabad, which has chosen to bar Durrani from leaving Pakistan.

The same was confirmed by Pakistani military spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor via a tweet on Monday.

He further stated that a formal enquiry has been initiated.

"Lt Gen Asad Durrani, Retired was called at GHQ today to explain his position on recently launched book ‘Spy Chronicles’. A formal Court of Inquiry headed by a serving Lt Gen has been ordered to probe the matter in detail. Competent authority approached to place his name on ECL," Ghafoor's tweet read.
