Five people were killed on the spot in a collision between a sleeper bus and a container truck on the national highway running through Vietnam's northern Tuyen Quang province early Tuesday morning, Vietnam News Agency reported.

Five others seriously injured and were rushed to the hospital. The accident occurred at about 1:40 a.m. local time (1840 GMT on Monday) when the sleeper bus was running on the highway No. 2 towards Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang provinces.

The container truck was running from Hai Phong city to Ha Giang province on the opposite direction when collided with the bus.

The truck overturned while the side of the sleeper bus was completely deformed, local news website VnExpress reported.

The case is being further investigated.
