At least four people, including two security personnel, were killed and three others wounded in a firing on a passenger bus and a car in Pakistan's Kurram region on Sunday, media reports said.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Imran, armed assailants opened fire on the bus and car in the Sadda area which resulted in the deaths of four people, reported Geo News.

The dead included two security personnel, a driver and a woman, Imam said.

He said police have launched a manhunt to arrest those behind the incident.

He said security has been beefed up in the area following the incident.

"The armed attackers targeted two vehicles going from Parachinar to Peshawar," the DPO said.

Pakistan witnessed a spike in terror-related incidents in 2023.
