Eight killed in Afghanistan road mishap

Faizabad/IBNS: Eight travelers were killed and two others left suffered injuries in a road accident that occured in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province Tuesday, the provincial traffic official Abdul Matin said.

"Eight commuters, including a woman and a child were killed and two others injured after their vehicle turned turtle in Yawan district around noon today," Matin told Xinhua.

The cause of the deadly accident, according to the official, was reckless driving on a road in a mountainous area.

Provincial police spokesman Mahmoud Shah Rasouli said a similar accident also took place in Shindand district of western Herat province late on Monday claiming one life and injuring 10 others.
