Egypt: Ban condemns latest terrorist attacks, calls for holistic approach to scourge

New York, Nov 25 (Just Earth News/IBNS): Condemning Tuesday’s terrorist attack in the Egyptian city of al-Arish,Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for an overall approach to preventing and countering terrorism, with full respect for human rights and refugee law.

He noted that the attack in the north Sinai city reportedly killed Government officials, security personnel and civilians and he extended his “heartfelt condolences” to the families of the victims and the Government and people of Egypt, and his wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

“The Secretary-General reiterates his strong belief in the need for a holistic approach to preventing and countering the scourge of terrorism, stressing due regard for international humanitarian, human rights and refugee law,” a statement attributable to the spokesperson said.
