Democrat Elizabeth Warren launches her 2020 US Presidential campaign

Washington, Feb 10 (IBNS):  Democrat Elizabeth Warren on Saturday officially announced her 2020 presidential campaign during a rally in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

"The man in the White House is not the cause of what is broken, he is just the latest and most extreme symptom of what's gone wrong in America," Warren, who is a Massachusetts senator, said of President Donald Trump as was quoted as saying by CNN.

"A product of a rigged system that props up the rich and powerful and kicks dirt on everyone else. So once he's gone, we can't pretend that none of this ever happened,"  said Warren who is the fourth major woman candidate in the 2020 US presidential race.

In a tweet, she said: "I believe in an America of opportunity. My daddy ended up as a janitor, but his little girl got the chance to be a public school teacher, a college professor, a United States Senator – and a candidate for President of the United States."

Over 44 minutes in sub-freezing temperatures, Warren described a political elite "bought off" and "bullied" by corporate giants, and a middle class squeezed so tight it "can barely breath", reported CNN.

As per the US news channel report, the formal start of Warren's White House campaign comes as the Democratic primary intensifies by the day, with numerous candidates including Sens. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker already in the race, and others, like Sens. Bernie Sanders and Amy Klobuchar, expected to jump in soon.

Warren was joined by family, including her husband, Bruce, two children and a gaggle of grandchildren during the crucial event on Saturday.

She is reportedly slated to start a six-state tour on Sunday.

Warren has been critical about US President Donald Trump administration's immigration policy specially in light of the separation of migrant children from their families at the border.

"I think we need immigration laws that focus on people who pose a real threat and I don't think moms and babies are the place that we should be spending our resources. Separating a momma from a baby does not make this country safer," Warren said in an interview with CNN last summer, a message she has returned to during her time on the campaign trail.
