Coronavirus bleeds Pakistan: Doctor treating COVID19 infected patients himself tests positive in Gilgit

Islamabad/IBNS: Pakistan seems to be failing to provide the necessary steps and arrangements required to combat the coronavirus outbreak in the country. With reports of a doctor getting effected by COVID 19 in Gilgit, it seems there is slow break-down of medical setup of the nation.

Sources said the condition of the doctor, who was treating Coronavirus-infected patients, is 'critical'.

"He is on a ventilator," sources said.

"In Punjab,  government-run hospitals, doctors, para-medics are treating corona patients or suspects without required precautions," sources said.

"They are exposing themselves as well as other patients to the virus," the source added.

Pakistan is facing a shortage of ventilators at present.

"China has been asked to help provide additional machines to meet the demand," said sources.

China, meanwhile, is the nation which is believed to be the epicentre from where the virus spread to other nations.

Pakistan is an all-weather ally of China.

When Pakistani students appealed repeatedly in the past to evacuate them from China's Coronavirus-hit Wuhan city, the government did not listen to their appeal and instead stood by the side of China.

Videos of students from China appealing to their government had gone viral on the social media.

A Samaa TV report said the army can be called out in Punjab.

Pakistan bleeding:

Pakistan, meanwhile, is badly hit by the virus outbreak with the country reporting over 650 infected patients till Sunday evening.

Four people have died in the nation so far.

Over 300 cases have been reported from Sindh while Punjab side of the country stated 150 infected cases. so far.

Meanwhile, authorities in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir have put the region under lockdown till Mar 23. It might be extended, sources said.
