Child dies after portion of school verandah collapses in Pakistan

A child died and nine other schoolchildren were injured after the verandah of a private school collapsed in Pakistan's  Kalarwali Pull region.

The students of Tariq Bin Ziad School were studying when the incident happened, reported Dawn News.

The deceased student was identified as Muhammad Maki.

The condition of two of the injured students are said to be critical.

Rescue officials rushed to the spot and pulled the injured students from the rubble.

Deputy Commissioner Mian Usman Ali issued the orders for an inquiry into the incident and asked the officials to check the building certificate of the school, reported Dawn News.

Sources told the newspaper that the school did not have a certificate though it was registered with the authorities concerned.

Locals are demanding the cancellation of the registration of the school.
