Victoria, May 18 (IBNS): The Canadian Armed Forces are set to help the British Columbia communities that are affected by floodwaters, media reports said.

Approximately 175 Canadian Army soldiers are heading towards Vernon in BC.

Across the province, 4,500 people had to leave their houses and another 7,000 people have been put to evacuation alert.

In a statement, Environment Canada said around 40 millimeters of rain could be expected on Saturday.

However, the BC residents might not get rain on Friday, according to CBC meteorologist.

Kootenay Lake School District has stated all schools will remain closed in the Salmo area on Friday considering the evacuation alert on Friday.
