Ottawa, Nov 30 (IBNS): Canada, the United States and Mexico will sign the trade deal, which is a renewed North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), on Friday morning, media reports said.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland will meet US President Donald Trump and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina.

The deal is expected to be signed at 9 am according to Argentina time.

After prolonged discussions and negotiations, the three countries reached at the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the new trade deal, on Oct 1.

In a joint statement, Freeland and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer had then stated, "......the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). USMCA will give our workers, farmers, ranchers, and businesses a high-standard trade agreement that will result in freer markets, fairer trade and robust economic growth in our region.

"It will strengthen the middle class, and create good, well-paying jobs and new opportunities for the nearly half billion people who call North America home.

"We look forward to further deepening our close economic ties when this new agreement enters into force.

“We would like to thank Mexican Economy Secretary Ildefonso Guajardo for his close collaboration over the past 13 months.”
