Montreal, Mar 28 (IBNS): A 40-year old Montreal man, who had forced Sunwing flight to return to Canada, will be sentenced on Apr 18, media reports said.

Charalabos Nassios had pleaded guilty to charges of assault and giving threats which had forced the airline to return to Canada.

However, on the return journey, Nassios was escorted by two F-15 U.S. army fighter jets.

Crown Attorney Cynthia Gyenizse has asked for a suspended sentence.

Along with sentencing, Gyenizse had sought more than $ 17, 450 in damages.

Nassios' lawyer Tom Pentefountas said his client will compensate the Sunwing.

Quebec court judge Pierre Dupras started his deliberations after the hearing.
