Canada: Forced out of job over sexual orientation, alleges Calgary principal

| @indiablooms | Dec 05, 2018, at 09:55 pm

Calgary, Dec 5 (IBNS): A Calgary principal has alleged that she was forced out of job owing to her sexual orientation, media reports said.

In an exclusive chat with CTV Calgary, Barb Hamilton, the principal, said she reluctantly resigned from her post in 2017.

Hamilton was the principal of St. Joseph Elementary Junior High School.

In her complaints to Human Rights, she argued that the Calgary Catholic School District refused to employ Hamilton owing to her religious beliefs, sexual orientation and marital status.

She was quoted by CTV News as saying, "Their perspective is, I resigned and mine is, I wasn’t given a choice."

“I don’t think silence contributes constructive solutions to the problem."
