Bus service between Pirojpur-Kolkata starts

Dhaka/IBNS: A bus service from Bangladesh's Pirojpur area to Kolkata city in West Bengal was started on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner Abu Ali Md Sazzad Hossain and Police Superintendent Hayatul Islam Khan inaugurated the service at 7:00am at Pirojpur Zila Bus Terminal, reported The Daily Star.

Passengers from the Bangladesh district can now reach Kolkata directly through Benapole Land Port by buses of Green Line Paribahan.

Md Nazrul Islam, an official of Green Line Paribahan, told The Daily Star that the 36-seat air conditioned Hino Luxury bus will leave the district every morning and reach the destination at 2:00pm. 

A bus from Kolkata will also enter the district directly following the same schedule, he told the newspaper.

Passengers will have to pay Tk 1,200 to go to Kolkata from the district while 1,000 Indian Rupees has been fixed for travelling from Kolkata to Pirojpur, reported the newspaper.
