Britain's Prince Harry, his wife Meghan to lose all honorary titles as they quit role as working members

London/IBNS : Britain's Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have confirmed to Queen Elizabeth II that they will not return as working members of the royal family, Bukingham Palace has said, according to a BBC report.

The statement said, the Queen has confirmed that they would not "continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service", thecreport added.

The couple's confirmation also means that they have decided to give up all honorary military appointments and patronages which will be given to other members of the royal family. 

Despite relinquishing their royal titles, the couple "will remain much loved members of the family", a statement from the palace stated.

According to the BBC report, the statement from Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of the Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.

"While all are saddened by their decision, the Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family."

The report also quoted a spokesman for Harry and Meghan as saying: "As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the UK and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organisations they have represented regardless of official role."

 "We can all live a life of service. Service is universal," they added.

Prince Harry has served in the British Army and holds several honorary military titles  and Commonwealth appointments and various other patronages.

He and his wife hit the international headlines a year ago when they quit the frontline royal duties. They currently live in California where they are involved in various commercial ventures.

Under the intial terms agreeed last year, the couple had given up using the HRH royal titles but Harry retains the title of prince as he was born one, the BBC report stated.

While leaving for a life in the US, Harry had agreed to review his decision a year on, according to reports and an announcement in that regard was expected this year by March.
