Brasília, Jan 27 (IBNS): The Brazil authorities on Sunday ordered more than 350 people to be evacuated and halted rescue operations following a dam burst ami fears that a second dam could collapse, reports said.

The first dam collapse in eastern Brazil's Brumadinho left 37 dead and 200 missing.

“I’m not sure where exactly we’ll go,” The Washington Post quoted 26-year-old Brenda Teresa, who evacuated her home on Sunday with her two-year-old daughter as saying. Her sister-in-law and brother-in-law are missing. “We’ll go as high as we can if we can.”

Reports said the government froze $1.3 million of mining company Vale's funds to pay for the rescue and compensation and fined it $66 million. Vale owned the damn. Three years ago, another Vale dam had burst and killed 19 people.

“I don’t know who is responsible, but I apologize to everyone,” said Vale’s chief executive Fabio Schvartsman in an interview Saturday on Brazil’s top nightly news show, The Washington Times report said.
