Bangladesh: Six workers die from toxic gas as they try to clean septic tank

Dhaka, July 31 (IBNS): At least six people were killed as they tried to clean a septic tank in Joypurhat’s Akkelpur Upazila of Bangladesh, emdia reports said on Wednesday.

The accident took place at a house in Jaffarpur village around 9am on Wednesday, according to Kiron Kumar Roy, chief of Akkelpur Police Station, told bdnews24.

The people, who lost their lives in the tragedy, have been identified as Pritam Chandra Das, 20, Bhutrro Chandra Das, 40, Shahin Hosain, 35, Shihab Hossain, 18, Sajal Hosain, 15, and Mukul Hossain, 35.

“Six workers went down into a septic tank of Nikhil Kumar’s house to clean the waste. They fainted after inhaling toxic gas,” the OC told the newsportal.

The firefighters rushed to the spot and pulled out the bodies.
