Bangladesh: Rohingya man shot dead in Ukhiya camp

Cox's Bazar: A Rohingya man was shot dead in Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar area.

The deceased was identified as  Syed Alam.

He was killed in  Block D of Kutupalong camp No 8 around 1:15am, Ukhiya police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Ali told Dhaka Tribune.

Locals who witnessed the incident claimed Syed Alam, a night guard patrolling the area, was killed in a shootout between the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) and the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO).

He was taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Police presence has been increased in the camp since the incident.
