Bangladesh: Key suspect in child rape incident arrested

Dhaka, July 7 (IBNS): The Bangladesh Police have arrested a man in connection with the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl from Dhaka's Bonogram area, media reports said.

The arrested person was identified as Harun-or-Rashid.

Harun, a native of Cumilla, used to live on the seventh floor of the building where the victim's body was found. The girl used to live with her family on the sixth floor of the building, reported bdnews24.

The victim's body was recovered from an empty flat on Friday.

According to report published by the news portal a doctor from the forensic department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital confirmed that the girl was raped before being murdered on Saturday, citing evidence found in the medical test.   

“The child was raped and strangled,” Dr Sohel Mahmud, chief of the forensic department of DMCH, had told bdnews24.
