Dhaka/IBNS: The balcony of an abandoned building in Bangladesh's Chandpur area on Saturday collapsed and left 44 madrasa students hurt, media reports said.

The building is three-story.

Of the injured students, Siam, 10, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, The Daily Star reported.

The remaining students are currently undergoing treatment in different hospitals in the area.

Around 100 students of AL-Amin Orphanage were carrying out a parade rehearsal on the balcony of the first floor of Farazikandi Complex ahead of the Victory Day, Abu Taher, an eyewitness, told the newspaper.

He said the balcony collapsed suddenly.

The firefighting team reached the spot and rescued the students.
