At least 27 Taliban militants killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, Nov 29 (IBNS) : At least 27 militants of the Red Unit of Taliban were killed during the airstrikes in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

Local Khaama Press quoted  a military statement as saying  that the 02 Unit of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) based in Nangarhar province carried out airstrikes in Khogyani district, leaving at least 27 militants of the Red Unit of Taliban dead.

The statement further added that the airstrikes were carried out in Zawa area of the district and as a result at least 3 militants were also wounded.

A number of the commanders of the Red Unit of Taliban were also among those killed, the 201st Silab Corps added.

The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban have not commented regarding the airstrikes so far.

Nangarhar has been among the relatively calm provinces in East of Afghanistan but the security situation in some of its remote districts has deteriorated during the recent years.
