Another doctor dies due to COVID-19 in Bangladesh

Dhaka: The COVID-19 infection continues to tighten its killer hands in Bangladesh as the infection claimed the life of  Gynaecologist Dr Irin Jaman of Chattogram Ma O Shishu Hospital on Tuesday, media reports said.

The doctor was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

She was declared dead at 1:40pm, said Dr Ranjan Kumar Nath, chief of the hospital's ICU, was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.

Dr Irin was admitted at the hospital Saturday night. She was doing well, but her condition deteriorated in the morning, he said. 

Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury, joint secretary of the Foundation for Doctors' Safety Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR), told the newspaper that Dr Irin was wife of Dr Muizzul Akbar Chowdhury, organising secretary of Bangladesh Medical Association, Chattogram chapter.
