Kabul: At least three attackers, who targeted a hotel in Afghanistan capital Kabul city, have died after Taliban's security forces responded to the incident on Monday, media reports said.

The hotel is popular among Chinese travellers.

Several explosions and gunshot bursts were heard by sources as the unidentified gunmen attacked the multi-story Kabul Longan Hotel on Monday, December 12, reports Khaama Press.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban government in the country, told Khaama Press that all guests were moved and no foreigners were killed in the attack.

China reacts:

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said the country was shocked by the incident.

“This terror attack is abominable and China is deeply shocked. We firmly oppose all forms of terrorism … We express our grief for the Afghan military police who died, and express sympathies for the injured,” foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin was quoted as saying by Dawn News.

Terrorist group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the incident.
