Kabul, Aug 5 (IBNS): At least three NATO soldiers were killed in a suicide attack in central Parwan province of Afghanistan on Saturday, media reports said.

The NATO force members were reportedly on a foot patrol when they were attacked.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg expressed his sadness over the loss of three NATO force members in the terrorist attack.

"My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones, and with the Czech Republic who have lost three military personnel in a suicide attack in eastern #Afghanistan. #NATO stands with the Afghan forces in their fight against terrorism," he tweeted.

US Army Gen. John Nicholson, the commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, tweeted: "My thoughts & prayers, along w/ those of @ResoluteSupport, are w/ families & friends of fallen & wounded soldiers & injured Afghan brothers & their families. Sacrifice on behalf of Afghan people & our coalition will endure in our hearts & history & further strengthen our resolve."

Waheed Shahkar, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the suicide attacker struck the foreign forces’ patrol in Khalazi locality in Janikhel village of Charikar at around 6am Sunday morning.

The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.
