Afghanistan: Poverty during Taliban rule drives cop to commit suicide
Kabul: A former Afghanistan policeman committed suicide after he was left jobless and even did not get his past three month's salary during the regime of the prevoioud government before Taliban took over the country.
Shaaker was a 16-year-old policeman and had 38 years of age who committed suicide on Thursday, September 23, reports Khaama Press.
Shaaker had two wives and seven children along with his mother and siblings who were all financially supported by him, the news agency reported.
The cop committed suicide as he did not find any job and remain without any financial resources to feed his family members.
It is worth mentioning that nearly ten cases of such have been witnessed in different provinces and Kabul since the Taliban takeover, reports Khaama Press.
The change in regime left nearly 300 thousand security forces members jobless and over one million civil servants all of whom have an average of 7 people in their families, the news agency reported.
Taliban took control over Afghanistan on Aug 15 after entering Kabul city.
The insurgents started capturing different corners of the country as foreign forces started leaving the nation.
The Taliban announced their government recently.
