Afghanistan: Police gun down suicide bomber in Kabul city

Kabul, July 16 (IBNS): Kabul police have shot dead a suicide bomber who was spotted taking a walk near the city centre on Monday morning, reports said.

According to an official, the police gunned him down before he could detonate his explosives at the crowded Shar-e-Naw park, triggering a massacre.

A group of Junbish-e-Mili supporters had gather at the park to demonstrate, when the incident took place.

Hashmatullah Stanikzai, Kabul police spokesman, said that the bomber had plans to target the gatherers.

The spokesperson added that the explosives were detonated during the incident, however, they said no casualty was recorded.
