Kabul, July 1 (IBNS): At least 19 people were killed in a blast that rocked Afghanistan's Jalalabad city on Sunday, media reports said.

The incident left 20 others injured, reports said.

The deceased reportedly included members from the Hindu minority.

According to local media reports, the blast that rocked the terror-hit nation occurred in Malang Jan square in the limits of the first municipal district at around 3:50pm targeting vehicles that carried the minority Hindu community members.

Police chief Ghulam Sanaei Stanikzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the suicide bomber detonated his explosives when the Hindu minority members wanted to enter the governor’s house in three vehicles to meet President Ashraf Ghani.

Governor’s Spokesman Attaullah Khogyani was quoted as saying by the Afghanistan-based news agency that the dead included 10 Hindus and eight other people and another 20 were injured.

The bombing is coinciding with country's President Ashraf Ghani's two-day trip to Nangarhar.
