Kabul: A school principal was killed by gunmen in Afghanistan's Kabul city on Monday, media reports said.

Sayed Ziauddin, the principal at Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem High School in Kabul’s PD11 area, was shot and killed in front of the school early Monday by unknown assailants, reported Tolo News.

The incident occurred when Sayed was reportedly returning home.

“He was out for dinner last night and in the early morning he was returning home and was killed by unknown gunmen in front of the school door," Tolo News quoted a relative of the principal as saying.

The reason behind the killing of the teacher is still not known.

No group claimed responsibility for the incident.
