Kabul:  At least five civilians, including three children and two women, died in a mortar attack on a civilian home in Afghanistan's  Zabul province, media reports said on Friday.

The incident happened during a clash between government forces and the Taliban on the outskirts of Qalat on Thursday evening, Tolo News reported.

Nazir Harifal, a chief physician at Zabul Hospital, told Tolo News 12 more were wounded in the incident.

He said some people are in critical condition.

Zabul police have blamed the Taliban for the incident.

The Taliban group did not comment on the incident so far.
